Hi and welcome to About Cosmetic Dentistry!
My name is Chris, and I wanted to create a site that would give
people the opportunity to talk about their feelings and concerns, ask questions and share
information regarding cosmetic dentistry. When I first began exploring the options of
cosmetic dentistry, I was able to do lots of research but couldn't find people I was
comfortable with who would understand. I felt awkward discussing my dental problems with
family or friends, and increasingly felt embarrassed when I'd smile.
My dentist did a great job of answering my questions and providing
pertinent information, but I felt a need for discussion and interaction on a personal
level with people also considering doing something about their smile. That's how the idea
for this forum came about.
Using e-mail, I was able to contact a number of other people who
were also considering cosmetic dentistry. Corresponding with them helped me immeasurably!
Sometimes it is just so comforting to be able to talk to someone who is in the same
situation as you are. I was also fortunate enough to speak with people who already had
different types of procedures performed, and came to learn of how happy they were that
they did so.
Unfortunately, e-mail can be a cumbersome discussion vehicle when
many people are involved. I figured that there had to be a better way. That's when someone
suggested a message board. So, armed with a little knowledge of web page design and some
help from a friend, I created this little online community for people who want a better
smile.
We all need someone with whom we can share our ideas and emotions,
without being judged or made to feel guilty. Cosmetic dentistry is a great chance to
improve ourselves, feel better about our smile, and increase our self confidence.
