Stylist™, Drs. Colleen and Jason Olitsky, are passionate about smiles. They
opened their practice in Ponte Vedra Beach over a year ago and have had a
blast giving their guests new smiles. “A smile is a social status symbol
like big rocks and sports cars” says Dr. Jason, “Having bad teeth can give
other people the wrong impression about you.” According to the American
Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, 96% of Americans feel as though a nice smile
is an important asset when attracting a partner and 75% of Americans feel as
though a nice smile is important for career success. “Our guests tell us
that their increased confidence from a new smile has been a catalyst to many
life altering changes such as career advancement, a greater interest in
health and fitness, and a stronger desire to continue to improve their
lives,” adds Dr. Colleen. There’s even a whole chapter in Dale Carnegie’s
book, How to win friends and influence people, written in 1936, designated
to the importance of having a nice smile.
“It’s all about finding the look that’s right for you,” says Dr. Jason, “We
feel like the best cosmetic dentistry available should look natural, like
teeth, an important point to remember when evaluating before and after
pictures on a website or in a dentist office.” You have a lot of choices in
cosmetic dentistry today. Remember that you will be wearing your new smile
everyday for the next 15 to 20 years. It is the focal point of expression on
your face and should have enough flare to be beautiful, but also be balanced
against the rest of your facial features to look natural.
At Olitsky Smiles, the doctors only see one patient at a time while
performing a smile makeover. “We feel like cosmetics should not be done in a
busy, or rushed environment,” insists Dr. Colleen. “This is plastic surgery
for smiles, not general dentistry.” Actually, you get the unique experience
of having two doctors working on your new smile; Dr. Colleen assists her
husband on every smile makeover procedure. “We love working together, and we
feel like we make a great team. I have been through all same cosmetic
training as Jason, plus he did my twenty veneers. Our guests tell me all the
time how comforting it is to have me there before, during and after the
procedure, because I’ve been through it on both sides and they like being
able to see a live model for the veneers,” says Dr. Colleen.
Drs. Colleen and Jason’s mission is to raise both the level of education and
skill of other cosmetic dentists, as well raise the level of awareness and
expectations of cosmetic patients. Dr. Jason is a national lecturer on
cosmetic dentistry and is an instructor with The Hornbrook Group, a Chicago
based live patient course that focuses on teaching contemporary smile
makeover techniques to dentists from around the world. Drs. Colleen and
Jason have been featured in a two page spread in the prestigious Dental
Economics, highlighting the early successes of their cosmetic smile studio.
All this accomplished by the age of 32. “Remember that experience doing
smiles and years practicing general dentistry are not the same thing,” says
Dr. Jason
Dr. Colleen encourages patients to do their research when considering a
smile makeover. “We have both seen and heard many regrets and horror stories
about patients unhappy with their new smiles and they wished they hadn’t
rushed into it or that they would’ve asked more questions and that kills me
because having a smile you love to flash all day long is such a wonderful
