About Dr. Steven Firshein, DMD

Dr. Steven Firshein grew up in New York City and attended the City University of New York, graduating with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. He completed his dental doctoral program at the widely respected University of Pennsylvania Dental School. His introduction to California came when he was accepted to the Marine Hospital Residency Program in San Francisco. There he had an opportunity to experience "rotations" in dental specialties including pediatrics, prosthodontics (tooth restoration), endodontics (root canal treatment) and oral surgery. He continued his training and professional growth in the U.S. Public Health Service attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander before leaving for the private sector and happily relocating to the South Bay. Dr. Firshein has enjoyed South Bay living for over 25 years, raising four children here. His interests mesh well with the beach community lifestyle. Along with being an avid cyclist, he enjoys tennis, volleyball, snow and water-skiing, and martial arts. For 15 years, Dr. Firshein was a reserve officer with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

Dr. Firshein says, “Living and working in the same area as my patients means that many of them have become friends, and I want my friends to have the best.”

Dr. Firshein’s gentle, warmly humorous, caring approach to dental treatment has made it easier for thousands of people to receive the care they need. Dr. Firshein prides himself on staying current with the rapid growth of dental technology by taking hundreds of hours of continuing education. He enjoys most areas of dentistry with special interest in restoring healthy function and beautiful smiles.

About Dr. Aron Kivel, DDS

Dr. Aron Kivel’s practice emphasizes tooth-conserving general and cosmetic dentistry. Whether providing a great first dental experience to parent and child or coaching adults through difficult decisions pertaining to filling replacements, veneers, orthodontics, implants and dentures, Dr. Kivel ensures that patients feel well informed, in control and able to choose from all that modern dentistry has to offer.

Dr. Kivel relocated to Los Angeles after living in San Francisco for almost 10 years. Already a surfer, skier, rock climber, cyclist, kayaker and overall adventure traveler, he had no problem “adjusting” to the Southern California life-style. After practicing in a Century City dental practice that was home to television’s Extreme Makeover and a separate “boutique” practice in Beverly Hills, Dr. Kivel began practicing in Los Angeles’ South Bay. “It can’t get any better than doing work I love while being a part of such a great community.” Soon thereafter Dr. Kivel moved from Pacific Palisades to Hermosa Beach.

Dr. Kivel graduated from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. He obtained his undergraduate degree in business from University of California at Davis. In between, Dr. Kivel became a licensed attorney, having graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
